About The Position

The Health & Wellness Director is responsible for overseeing the medical services provided to young people in the Job Corps program. This role includes conducting medical examinations, managing health services, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and coordinating wellness programs. The director will also provide emergency care, manage medication, and ensure the health staff meets professional standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in the nursing field, preferably in a supervisory or manager role.
  • Current State Professional Nurse License.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Valid State Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cursory and complete medical examinations according to PRH requirements.
  • Provide optometrist/ophthalmologist evaluations and glasses as needed.
  • Implement an immunization program in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Offer daily walk-in services for routine care and manage an appointment system for follow-ups.
  • Provide patient assessment, triage, and treatment.
  • Deliver emergency care including first aid and CPR, and coordinate emergency services.
  • Ensure 24-hour emergency care with local community facilities for medical, dental, mental health, and inpatient care.
  • Utilize community resources for staff and student training on wellness issues and self-care.
  • Manage the TEAP program including assessment, intervention, counseling, and prevention education.
  • Coordinate health aspects of sports activities with the Recreation Department.
  • Oversee the Reproductive Health Program including pregnancy prevention and family planning.
  • Provide weight control counseling and support through the Weight Improvement Program.
  • Manage health services staffing to comply with required levels and qualifications.
  • Ensure compliance with the Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Oversee medication management including ordering, storage, administration, and record keeping.
  • Implement and monitor orientation for health services.
  • Act as a resource liaison for Wellness classes and Health Occupations Program.
  • Liaise with the Center Director and Management Team on health-related issues.
  • Develop and monitor quality assurance programs and health service reports.
  • Direct and monitor Health Services expenditures to comply with budget.
  • Oversee the purchase, use, maintenance, and disposal of health service supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure medical records are maintained in compliance with PRH requirements and Nurse Practice Act.
  • Provide on-call services for emergency care.
  • Implement infection control measures in Health Services and assist with center-wide monitoring.
