About The Position
Banner Health is excited to announce an opening for a Health Unit Coordinator at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. This entry-level position is crucial for providing a variety of administrative support functions and customer service within an assigned patient care area. The Health Unit Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring an organized and efficient delivery of care to patients. This position facilitates communication between physicians, nurses, and patients, and acts as a liaison with all internal departments and external contacts. The role requires a commitment to customer service and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often under stress, while maintaining a focus on patient care and satisfaction. The Health Unit Coordinator will be responsible for performing receptionist and clerical duties that support the overall operating efficiency of the department. This includes processing patient admissions, maintaining complete patient records, coordinating patient appointments, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are available. The coordinator will also monitor and track the use of electronic equipment and ensure that all equipment is accounted for and in working order. This position requires excellent organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and a strong understanding of medical terminology and office software. The work schedule for this position is a 32-hour day shift, from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, which includes weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. The Health Unit Coordinator will have the opportunity to utilize a self-scheduling tool and will receive a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential, as well as an 18% night shift differential. This role is essential in providing high-quality care to patients and supporting the medical staff in their efforts to deliver exceptional healthcare services.
