About The Position

Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) Make a meaningful impact at the center of patient care. Under the leadership of the Nurse Manager, the Health Unit Coordinator plays a key role in keeping the care team connected and the patient experience seamless. As the communication hub of the unit, you'll work closely with physicians, nurses, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and visitors-ensuring everyone has the information and support they need. In this role, you'll welcome and assist patients and visitors with professionalism and warmth, serving as both receptionist and resource on patient floors and in clinical settings. You'll also manage a wide range of administrative and operational tasks, including typing, filing, data entry, phone management, ordering supplies, and preparing unit-specific projects. Your attention to detail helps keep clinical operations running smoothly as you track consultations, STAT orders, supply needs, and patient movement throughout the system. You're an essential partner to the care team, supporting efficient workflows and a positive care environment. Above all, you uphold the organization's mission, vision, values, goals, and behavioral standards in every interaction, contributing to a culture of excellence and compassionate care. Hourly Pay Rate: $16.87 - $24.88

Requirements

Requires completing an approved health unit coordinator/secretary program or one (1) year of related work experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Must complete Valleywise Health computer classes.
Must have a working knowledge of medical terminology and be proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
Must have the ability to work with culturally diverse people.
Requires excellent communication and time management skills.
Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
