About The Position

Health Unit Coordinator, Adult Medical Oncology Department Overview Current unit 14K Adult Bone Marrow Transplant will be transitioning to VPV Medical Oncology. Our primary teams are Medical Oncology/Cellular Therapy: Stem cell Transplant, Immune cell therapy including CAR-T and TIL, Gene Therapy, Chemotherapy, GVHD, pain crisis, failure to thrive, end of life. The new unit will have 60+ beds to expand our exceptional care for our patients. Function/Duties of Position The Health Unit Coordinator is part of the health care team and utilizes her/his knowledge and skills to support and enhance nursing area/unit operations throughout OHSU. The Health Unit Coordinator maintains an accurate and current profile of patients and health care team members in multiple locations: census boards, call lists, and in the integrated heath record. The Health Unit Coordinator serves as a communications specialist, providing clerical and reception skills, data collection and computer entry. The Health Unit Coordinator provides problem-solving and performance improvement assistance on the unit.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • One year of clerical experience in a health care environment
  • reads, writes and speaks fluent English
  • basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • basic math skills
  • demonstrated computer skills
  • demonstrated customer service skills
  • ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide above referenced knowledge, skills and ability

  • National HUC (Health Unit Coordinator) certification preferred
