Fairview Hospital's 5 North Complex Medical Care Unit, also known as the Innovation Unit, has a collaborative, supportive and multi-disciplinary team of caregivers. This unit is used to trial, evaluate and develop best practices in technology, nursing, interdisciplinary care and medicine. As Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will offer unparalleled customer service to patients, families and visitors to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience, no matter where you serve. Using your administrative and clerical skills, you will ensure the efficient operational flow, allowing your fellow caregivers to continue providing optimal medical support. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working shifts varying between 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. with weekend requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Nice To Haves

  • College degree
  • Microsoft Office experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Handle various computer tasks, such as updating schedules and managing patient information.
  • Coordinate and send out pages to physicians, especially during emergencies like traumas and strokes
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
