Health Unit Coordinator I - Emergency Department
About The Position
The Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for pre-registering patients into the health information system by obtaining appropriate information from Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to process complete demographic and other visit related information. Responsibilities also include interacting with patients, patient family members/visitors, providers, and other team members. Augusta Health offers a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient which includes Augusta Medical Center a 255 bed inpatient facility and Augusta Medical Group which is comprised of 40 practice locations and four urgent care locations. Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must possess written and verbal communication skills.
- HIPAA – appropriately manages Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Able to meet physical and mental requirements of position in fast-paced, complex acute care setting.
- Annual education and competencies as required per hospital certifications.
Nice To Haves
- 1-year previous experience in customer service.
- 1-year previous experience in general clerical office or administrative duties experience or applicable classwork may be substituted.
