About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator I position at Cincinnati Children's Hospital is designed to provide daily operational and administrative support for the unit and outpatient services. The role functions as a resource for clinical personnel regarding unit and outpatient operational issues, anticipating needs for the department and providing coordination of information systems, environmental, admitting, and clerical functions for patient areas dedicated to the care of infants, children, and adolescents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No directly related experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains unit information systems including medical record integrity, forms management, and accuracy of patient data.
  • Ensures timely completion of admissions, discharges, transfers, and short stay documentation.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and accountability with respect to patient charges and rental equipment.
  • Maintains an organized and safe environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees.
  • Monitors traffic flow at the front desk and on the unit, assisting with compliance of visitor policies.
  • Reports maintenance and environmental service needs to appropriate division and follows up to assure completion.
  • Identifies system problems and utilizes strategies for resolutions.
  • Responds to communication system/patient alarms with urgency.
  • Demonstrates extraordinary customer service and satisfaction in all interactions.
  • Ensures timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of information as defined by applicable laws and regulations.
