About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and strong keyboarding skills required.
  • Successful completion of HUC post-secondary program or HUC Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one year working experience in a medical environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
  • Preferred proficiency in computer skills and working knowledge with EHR systems, EPIC preferred.
  • Outstanding customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to adapt effectively to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
  • Availability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the healthcare team.
  • Monitor and order supplies for the unit.
  • Promptly answer patient call lights and elevate patient needs to nursing staff.
  • Assist the care team with managing orders in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and facility staff.
  • Function as a resource to members of the healthcare team and be familiar with multiple Mayo Clinic resources.
  • Anticipate and respond to team requests and patient needs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and self-development within the role.
