About The Position

The position is for a part-time role in the Emergency Department at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center. The job requires working 24 hours per week on the 3rd shift, which runs from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. The schedule includes two 12-hour shifts per week, with a rotation required every other weekend and 50% of the holidays yearly. The pay range for this position is between $19.45 and $29.20 per hour.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate (HSD, GED, HSED)
  • At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to make fast, accurate decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple patients and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to respond effectively to constantly changing situations.
  • Clear communication skills to convey information quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work closely with nurses, physicians, paramedics, and other staff.
  • Ability to explain information or directions in a way patients can understand.
  • Compassionate care during stressful or traumatic situations.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused in high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to handle aggressive or distressed patients and families.
  • Efficient documentation skills for accurately recording patient information.
  • Ability to balance urgent care with administrative duties.
  • Collaboration across departments for patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Management – Admitting, transferring and discharging patients; ensuring accurate documentation and communication throughout the processes.
  • Record Keeping – Maintaining and updating patient medical records, including electronic health records (EPIC), and compiling charts.
  • Communication – Serving as a liaison between patients, medical staff, and other departments; answering phone calls; relaying information.
  • Scheduling – Coordinating appointments, procedures and surgeries for patients.
  • Clerical Tasks – Performing various typing, filing and data entry projects.
  • Supply Management – Ordering and organizing supplies for the unit.
  • Patient Assistance – Helping patients and families by answering questions, giving directions, providing forms and brochures.
  • Other Duties – May be asked to prepare birth/death certificates, vital sign graphs, or other various unit projects.
