About The Position

The Long Term Care (LTC) Health Unit Clerk is a member of the health team who functions as a catalyst to assure appropriate information flows among team members, to other departments and outside entities as needed. Responsible for maintaining accurate registration of the LTC residents and updating information as needed depending on Intermediate Care or Skilled Need level. The LTC Health Unit Clerk must be well organized with the ability to interact with all customers on and who enter the facility. This position is key to customer service.

Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Prefer a working knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • One year experience in health care related field preferred, or one year of course work in medical related classes (i.e. Anatomy, Biology, Chemistry, etc.).
  • Certified Nurse Aide certification.
  • Maintains BLS certification.
  • Effective speaking, listening, and writing skills.
  • Prefer one year experience working with computers (including Word and Outlook), medical record keeping, filing skills, and telephone communication systems.
  • Working knowledge of CPSI computer system preferred, or ability to learn and work independently within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate registration of LTC residents.
  • Update resident information as needed based on care level.
  • Facilitate information flow among team members and departments.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all facility visitors.
