About The Position

This position falls under Defense Health Agency, Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune under the Directorate of Surgery, Orthopedic and Podiatry Clinic scheduling operating room cases for multiple physicians at three locations, entering referrals, scheduling appointments, providing care coordination with a multidisciplinary team, and compiling reports, patient medical records and other data to be utilized by senior management. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience which includes: 1). Using electronic health record systems, such as Military Health System (MHS) Genesis Power Chart; Revenue Cycle; Microsoft Word and Excel; 2). Working with multidisciplinary teams in care coordination in a fast-paced work environment; and 3). Professional patient care, such as scheduling multiple appointments, handling medical records, tracking test results for patients, and entering personnel communications in the electronic health records.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and carry out assignments to include efficient Register Nurse Pre-operative appointments and data quality management to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Screen patients to verify the correct identification.
  • Enter, manipulate, and/or retrieve information and data to update and maintain employee medical records through the health care automated systems and/or written documentation.
  • Maintain daily patient logs and various records.
  • Prepare reports and utilize automated computer equipment supportive of the orthopedics and podiatry program.
  • Coordinate with preoperative nursing staff, clinic manager, and operating room personnel to determine the most appropriate scheduling of routine, non-urgent surgical cases.
  • Schedule and de-conflict all operative cases for surgeons within the department.
  • Prepare and coordinate all consultations and referral appointments to ensure and facilitate proper patient care, interacting with physicians and clinics to avoid administrative problems or delays.
  • Use military electronic health record systems, inpatient/surgical record, and other computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments.
  • Generate data on a daily, weekly, monthly, and on demand basis to identify trends impacting on operating room and appointment availability and the efficient delivery of routine and acute operating room demands.
  • Brief the Director of Surgical Services, Department Head, and Clinic Manager with surgical data used to complete routine and acute operating room requirements as needed.
