About The Position

The Health Tech (Ophthalmology/Optometry) position at Evans Army Community Hospital involves working in a combined ophthalmology and optometry clinic. Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, including assisting with ophthalmology/optometry procedures, setting up medical equipment, and triaging eye injuries.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification sponsored by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and random testing thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technician (COMT) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with medical procedures related to ophthalmology and optometry.
• Schedule and manage surgical patients.
• Coordinate with operating room personnel for surgical setups.
• Ensure the setup of solutions, medications, and anesthesia mixtures for surgeries.
• Serve as the first surgical assistant and scrub assistant during procedures.
• Prepare the surgical room and equipment for various eye surgeries.
• Assist with laser vision corrective surgery and other ophthalmic procedures.
