About The Position

The Health System Specialist (Credentialing & Privileging) is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the credentialing and privileging operations at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center. This role ensures compliance with VHA policies and standards set by The Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General, and Government Accountability Office. The incumbent will assist in developing credentialing processes, manage provider applications, and serve as a technical advisor to the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Education or experience related to health system administration, public health administration, or related fields.
  • Specialized experience in healthcare administration or clinical management equivalent to GS-07 level in Federal Service.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of credentialing and privileging processes for medical staff members.
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis of medical staff applications.
  • Skills in using software applications for data entry and management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the C&P Manager/Analyst in developing short- and long-term goals for the C&P program.
  • Draft local credentialing processes and Medical Staff Bylaws in compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure accurate provider data is maintained in the VetPro computer program.
  • Manage provider applications for credentialing and privileging within the VAMC.
  • Provide guidance to hospital staff on documentation for establishing privileges for LIPs.
  • Ensure application packages meet technical requirements per specialty of provider.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff.
  • Prepare agendas for credentialing-related meetings and ensure proper documentation is completed.
  • Conduct final appointments in the VetPro database after thorough validation of all data and documents.
  • Develop and provide routine and special reports as requested by the C&P Manager/Analyst.
