About The Position

This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration in in the Clinical Operations Service at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont. The Associate Group Practice Manager is responsible for a broad range of analytical activities related to the Medical Center's mission to provide quality patient care, education and research, with specific emphasis on the effective use of resources. This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-12. At the GS-09 grade level, you will perform assignments more developmental and limited scope with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.

Requirements

  • Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held.
  • Interchange Agreements with Other Merit System: Employees who occupy medical or medical-related positions and were appointed under 38 U.S.C. 4701(1) or (3) [formerly 38 U.S.C. 4104 (1) and (3)] must be serving in a full-time position without time limit and have served continuously for at least one year in this other merit system to be eligible to convert to the Title 5 System. Some exceptions to this rule may apply if you have previously acquired tenure under a Title 5 appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance and support to the Ambulatory Care Operations Director/Group Practice Manager (ACOD/GPM) and to all ambulatory care services in the facility and related Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) as it relates to access to care.
  • Responsible for Primary Care, Mental Health, Surgery, Medicine or Ancillary ambulatory clinics oversight and integration into an efficient Clinic Practice Management (CPM) model.
  • Support high quality, accessible, cost effective health care services.
  • Ensures a high quality patient experience for the Veteran, by acting on feedback from the Veteran, his or her family and/or significant others, facility employees, expert clinical staff and the ACOD/GPM.
  • Provides data, reports and assistance to the ACOD/GPM in their work in development of strategic plans for the facility.
  • Measures and provides recommendations with an emphasis on improving clinical product line performance.
  • Development, standardization, implementation, and sustainment of key operational/business processes, including scheduling practices, to ensure efficient and effective management of the clinic.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to optimize clinic management processes, access strategies, and "make-buy" decisions through analysis of in-house and non-VA provided care.
