Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Kansas Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license is applicable.
  • May require KS/MO driver's license, depending on department or agency.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting quarterly nursing assessments.
  • Provide emergency medical care.
  • Assess for illness and monitor chronic disease processes.
  • Administer first aid and give injections.
  • Assess skin breakdown and provide wound care.
  • Teach staff how to perform delegated tasks regarding catheters, ostomies, feeding tubes, O2, CPAP, suction, and nebulizer use.
  • Teach proper Medication Administration to unlicensed staff.
  • Provide education on infection control and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to assess, develop, and provide enhancements to promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Help track the use of DME for all residential individuals and find providers for preferred supplies.
  • Facilitate on-site clinics, scheduling, sending reminders, and maintaining medical records.
  • Perform site visits to verify proper medication administration procedures.
  • Support staff in learning proper techniques in personal care and demonstrate physical positioning of individuals.
  • Help individuals set up medical appointments and accompany them as needed.
  • Serve in a regular on-call rotation to ensure 24-hour nursing services.
  • Facilitate ER and urgent care visits and communicate health history between facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
