Performs advanced psychological work. Work involves assessing, reporting, research, interviewing inmates, and preparing and reviewing cases to facilitate sex offender registration and required Dynamic Risk Assessment (DRA) evaluations; providing intervention, education, and case management services within sex offender rehabilitation programming; and providing guidance to others. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

  • Conducts comprehensive assessments to include administration and scoring of DRA instruments for the determination of the potential risk to reoffend and assists in making risk-level recommendations.
  • Interviews sex offenders; and performs an array of technical, research, and administrative activities for DRA and sex offender rehabilitation programming.
  • Provides advice and counsel in interpreting policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and standards related to DRA and sex offender rehabilitation programming; and serves as a liaison with other departments of the agency.
  • Monitors, reviews, and evaluates compliance with program policies and procedures, statutes, and rules.
  • Collects, organizes, analyzes and prepares materials for response to request for program information and reports.
  • Provides guidance to others; and assists in training and mentorship for the DRA program.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, Counseling, Social Services, Behavioral Health, Education, or a related field from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE).
  • Criminal justice, rehabilitation, sex offender treatment, or psychological skills experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Knowledge of interview techniques.
  • Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred.
  • Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Skill to gather, assemble, correlate, analyze facts, and prepare reports.
  • Skill to administer and score assessment instruments.
  • Skill to develop, evaluate, and interpret policies, procedures, rules, and statutes.
  • Skill to maintain records and use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, and OneDrive) applications.
  • Skill to train and provide guidance to others.
