About The Position

The Health Services Worker I position at UMOS involves providing essential health services and support to children and families, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The role includes conducting health assessments, coordinating health services, and implementing health and nutrition programs while actively engaging with parents and staff to promote children's health and well-being.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant or National Head Start Basic Health Services credential.
  • Possess presentation/training experience and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Certified in First Aid, Infant/Child CPR, Adult CPR and AED.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Case Review Process to address health and disabilities program areas.
  • Perform file reviews and obtain current health or dental information through records requests.
  • Schedule or assist parents in scheduling necessary health services for children.
  • Address health issues in accordance with sick child procedures and state licensing.
  • Complete health, nutrition, and oral health referrals.
  • Conduct home visits when health or developmental concerns are identified.
  • Obtain consents from parents for health or dental services.
  • Prepare paperwork for clinics including necessary forms for providers.
  • Implement Health, Nutrition, and Disabilities program policies and procedures.
  • Ensure IEP/IFSP is developed in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Monitor IEP/IFSP goals in coordination with teaching staff.
  • Conduct in-house staffing meetings for special services concerns.
  • Implement procedures for child accidents, health emergencies, and medication administration.
  • Monitor compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
  • Coordinate health and disability home visits with Family Services and teaching staff.
  • Monitor health and safety compliance through checklists and inspections.
  • Plan and coordinate training for staff and parents on health-related topics.
  • Submit timely reports for assigned program areas and ensure data entry is completed.
  • Participate in the collection of non-federal shares (in-kind) documentation.
  • Assist in ongoing recruitment plan activities for children with disabilities.
  • Report suspected child abuse and neglect in accordance with state law.
