About The Position

The Health Sciences Student Ambassadors assist the department in a variety of activities related to maintaining a welcoming and supportive learning environment for students majoring/minoring in all Department of Health Sciences (HSC) programs. Ambassadors contribute to the department’s recruitment and retention efforts by engaging students in social and educational events hosted by the department and by providing a student’s point of view to departmental programming. Health Sciences Student Ambassadors will aslo assist in setting up/taking down events. (moving tables, chairs, signs, etc.) Health Sciences Student Ambassadors will need to have excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to relate to individuals from various backgrounds and experience. Health Sceinces Student Ambassadors will need a high level of self motivation, dependibiltly, responsibilitiy and the ability to work independently in this position.

Requirements

  • An active major within one or more disciplines within the Department of Health Sciences (Applied Health Sciences, Environmental Health Safety & Sustainability, Health Informatics and Management, Medical Laboratory Science, Public Health, School Health Education)
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), or a willingness to learn them quickly
  • Familiarity with basic graphic design applications (such as Canva, Adobe Express), or the ability to learn them quickly
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends
  • Availability to work in this position for at least two semesters
  • Excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to relate to individuals from various backgrounds and experience
  • High level of self motivation, dependibiltly, responsibilitiy and the ability to work independently in this position
