Colorado Kodak Alaris Colorado is the home of Kodak Moments Thermal Media Manufacturing and the Windsor Regional Distribution Center. The operations are responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of thermal media for photographic applications. Kodak Alaris/Kodak Moments Colorado is seeking an experienced and driven Health & Safety Professional/Industrial Hygienist for Windsor, Colorado’s solvent solution making, gravure printing, wide roll converting and warehousing operations. The individual will be responsible for working with the Colorado team to manage health and safety risks, identify and mitigate hazards, and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Maintaining a positive safety culture is a key deliverable.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years’ applicable work experience required (5 years preferred), with the following preferred competencies:
  • Chemistry background.
  • Risk assessment and hazard analysis methodologies.
  • Health & Safety Management System (ISO 45001) implementation.
  • Development and application of industrial hygiene and ergonomics programs.
  • Meticulous and an ability to effectively multitask.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication (both written and verbal), and people skills.
  • Strong computer experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe, and commonly used database software.
  • Ability to perform field work and site inspections, collect and analyze data and report findings in a timely and effective manner.
  • Committed to providing a safe workplace for all employees and to driving continuous improvements in the manufacturing operations.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in occupational health science, public health, environmental health, industrial hygiene, or a similar field.
  • GPA in major of 3.5 or greater.
  • Minimum of 2 years applicable work experience (5 years preferred).
  • Awareness of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, with a focus on preventing injuries and ensuring employee safety in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver employee training materials and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), to ensure workforce understanding of health and safety regulations and their role to maintain compliance
  • Experience maintaining, calibrating, and utilizing analytical instrument to evaluate workplace hazards (noise, dust, chemical, vapor, ionizing radiation, welding fumes, etc.) and to identify and implement controls.
  • Willingness to gain experience acquiring and maintaining ISO 45001 certification (Health & Safety Management System) for a complex manufacturing site.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) desired.
  • Willingness to participate on the KMC First-Aid Team and acquire the credentials to become a first aid trainer.
  • Master of Science (MS) degree preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • Ability to obtain Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety compliance programs and organizational policies meet applicable regulations and Company requirements. Review, interpret and apply applicable health and safety standards to drive continuous improvements at the Colorado site.
  • Interact with all levels of organization to foster an initiative-taking, inclusive, and positive safety culture.
  • Conduct surveys and observe work conditions to identify processes which pose a risk to the health of employees and implement controls to reduce risk.
  • Collect industrial hygiene field measurements to verify levels of chemical vapors, dust, noise, etc. at the site and implement controls to ensure employee exposures are below acceptable limits.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management System at the Colorado site.
  • Design and implement workplace processes and procedures to help protect employees from potentially hazardous work conditions.
  • Develop and deliver training and educate workers on the health/safety requirements necessary for a hazard-free environment. Manage tracking of employee participation in Company sponsored health and safety training.
  • Perform investigations to evaluate the adequacy of ventilation, lighting and other conditions required for employee safety.
  • Create and host seminars for staff members to educate them on occupational safety and health.
  • Provide Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) input to workplace processes and procedures to minimize risks. Proactively manage changes to control new hazards and minimize risks at the Colorado site.
  • Lead incident investigations for injuries, near misses, and chemical releases. Identify root causes and champion correction actions to minimize the likelihood of repeat incidents. Track action items to completion.
  • Stay current with proposed and effective changes to health and safety requirements and applicable emerging technologies. Apply industry best practices, accepted risk assessment and hazard analysis methodologies, and principles such as prevention through design to minimize hazards and risks, based on issues and concerns at the plant site. Attend educational programs and conferences to increase job knowledge and skills.
  • Design and propose strategies to maintain and continuously improve health and safety performance at the Colorado site. Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure health and safety aspects of all job functions are appropriately addressed.
  • Prepare reports and manage health and safety documentation, including regulatory reports, records, SOPs, and Work Instructions (WIs) in established databases.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including Kodak Moments Colorado employees, Kodak Moments/Kodak Alaris EHS team members, Kodak Alaris Human Resources (HR), and external regulatory agencies. Participate in Kodak Alaris EHS Governance Council meetings and support Corporate EHS initiatives, as necessary.
  • Network with industrial health engineers and other occupational professionals to design remedial measures for hazardous conditions.
  • Manage non-compliances form internal and external audits and inspections, including identification of corrective actions and confirmations of their completion. Participate in site inspections by regulatory agencies and follow-up on related information requests and gap closure work.
  • Counsel employees on the proper ways to adjust workstations and to interact with production equipment to meet ergonomics standards.
