About The Position

Work on the 1-million sq. ft. factory is now under way on the 400-acre site. It will be the company’s second largest plant, rivalled only by JCB’s world headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire, England, and create 1,500 new jobs over five years. The factory will make Loadall telescopic handlers and aerial access equipment, with production scheduled to start in 2026. The factory will also have the capacity to expand and build other products in the future. Position Purpose In this role, the EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) Manager will provide leadership and support for the EHS programs at JCB North America Headquarters. The EHS Manager develops, implements, supports, and administers site safety programs ensuring the plant complies with applicable health and safety corporate initiatives, laws, regulations, and to achieve an injury-free work environment. Position Purpose: Full Time, Exempt

Requirements

  • Must pass any drug screens, background checks and any pre-employments tests as applicable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Safety related field or equivalent
  • 5-7+ years EHS related experience in general industry manufacturing environments with direct exposure to environmental and/or health and safety field
  • Must pass any drug screens, background checks and any pre-employment
  • Advanced Knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety Regulatory Compliance
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in communication and persuasion in employee interactions
  • Knowledge of applicable 29 CFR 1910 - OSHA General Industry Standards
  • Training development and delivery
  • Knowledge and skill in using a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications
  • Integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to perform continuous, repetitious physical activities. These activities may involve fine movements or large motions
  • Must be able to grasp/pinch small items, reach out and up, and turn wrist
  • Must be able to push/pull with reasonable force
  • Must be able to perform the following requirements of bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in multiple climates including hot/cold temperatures, and dusty environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must be able to climb ladders and work at heights from time to time.
  • The employee frequently lifts and/or moves objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety and five years’ experience in manufacturing operations
  • Environmental certifications, experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of fire protections systems a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with OSHA requirements and JCB’s health and safety program requirements.
  • Serves as lead for specific safety programs to implement and sustain requirements and training.
  • Integrates continuous improvements in safety systems and helps drive employee engagement to achieve desired results.
  • Collaborates with JCB employees to identify and implement improvements driving overall reduction in hazards through the use of programs such as Safe Work Observations, Hazard Recognition and Ergonomic Evaluations
  • Conduct EHS related inspections and audits, generate reports and communicate findings.
  • Provide day-to-day technical safety and health advice and consultation to employees and contractors
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with all levels of management, peers, and employees
  • Work closely with all department managers and employees to drive, build and sustain a healthy safety culture
  • Work and communicate with injured employees, medical professionals, claims staff and others to obtain the necessary information to ensure best interest of employees and the company are met
  • Manage the development, implementation, and delivery of EHS related training programs, including new hire and refresher training for all employees as needed
  • Serve as incident commander during fire and/or medical emergency responses
  • Other duties as assigned.
