The estimated per hourly range for this position is $22 - 30 per hour based on experience. Join Our Team as a Health and Safety Intern! The Health, Safety, and Environmental Intern will report to the Assistant Manager- Global Health, Safety and Environmental Services and will work with all members of the Health/Safety/Environmental Department. Projects and assignments are related to S&C's Safety and Environmental Sustainability goals. Sustainability projects include waste reduction and pollution prevention efforts towards a Landfill Free waste stream certification and a Carbon Neutral footprint. Other projects may include Outreach, Auditing, Ergonomics and Industrial Hygiene assignments related to our Health and Safety programs, including OSHA compliance. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Requirements

  • Must be a student in good standing at an accredited institute pursuing a BS in Environmental Engineering or Industrial Engineering (related disciplines will be considered).
  • Ability to think analytically, independently, and outside of the box to provide fresh ideas to improve processes .
  • Ability to work with people in a production/plant environment
  • Have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office and PC Skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene, policy, and occupational safety is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze environmental data.
  • Report generation and graphical information presentation.
  • Monitor processes (e.g. basic industrial hygiene activities)
  • Research on pollution prevention (e.g. reuse, recycling and reduction initiatives).
  • Participate in team problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Observe behavioral based safety.
  • Involved in Personal Protective Equipment program selection, recycling, and auditing.
  • Involved in ergonomic training and assessments
  • Interact with production Team Members, Leadership, Product and Process Engineers, Facilities Maintenance and Engineering
