This Position reports to: HSE Manager As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities. The work model for the role is onsite/hybrid in Selmer, TN .

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master’s degree program in HSE or related fields , in the United States.
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Exhibit the capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with various teams to support ABB’s operations, ensuring effective coordination and timely project completion within the defined timelines.
  • Leveraging insights about customer needs and ABB’s offerings to identify suitable solutions for clients, leading to project results that meet customer expectations.
  • Participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and other collaborative efforts.
  • Seeking feedback and guidance from manager and team members to improve performance and skills.
  • Assist in preparing regulatory reports (TRI, wastewater discharge), calibrate gas monitors, and contribute to quarterly emergency drills with action item follow-ups.
  • Audit SDS management for outdated entries, update facility safety visuals, and serve as a resource for frontline workers addressing safety concerns.
  • Lead inspections for stormwater, hazardous waste, confined spaces, and lifting equipment; track deficiencies and coordinate maintenance follow-ups.
  • Conduct ESH onboarding for new hires and monthly compliance sessions to ensure workforce awareness and regulatory alignment.
  • Complete activity-based risk assessments (e.g., corrosives), support hazard recognition programs, and collaborate with employees to implement effective controls.
