As an Health & Safety Co-Op , you will support an organization's environmental health and safety program by assisting with inspections, performing risk assessments, and helping to develop and implement safety procedures. This position is for a Summer & Fall 2026 Co-Op, with a start date of May 2026 and an end date of January 2027.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate program at an accredited college or university
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills and MS Office experience
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Assists with all aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety program
  • Serve as an EHS Champion and promote a Safety Always culture.
  • Assist with the development and continuous improvement of written safety plans, through research, interviews, inspecting and reviewing areas, equipment, processes, and work activities.
  • Conduct and maintain Job Safety Analysis and Hazard Assessments.
  • Help conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment, workstations, etc. as needed
  • Assist with the development of safety training programs.
  • Conduct safety training on a variety of safety topics for employees at all levels of the organization, as required.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance to all Safe Work Practices (SWP), regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, NFPA, etc.) and plant policies and procedures
  • Assist with the ISO 14001/ 18001(45001) EHS requirements and audit process for continued certification
  • Conduct and assist in proactive safety compliance audits and inspections, as required.
  • Help research safety equipment for its application and purchase
  • Analyze data and perform trending analysis in order to identify and implement corrective actions as well as develop strategic risk mitigation strategies
  • Collaboration with employees at all levels while guiding the incident analysis process as it applies to safety events.
  • To be engaged with shop floor supervisors and employees through time on the floor; expected to be at least 50% of time
  • Promote platforms for continual improvement, such as Lean, 5S, CIP, etc. Must integrate these systems to help drive excellence in global safety.
  • Manage the maintenance of training data, inspection data, safety audits, and other related documentation, as required.
  • Support fellow Safety Team members in meeting assigned goals.
  • Manage and organize safety promoting events and activities, as assigned.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
