About The Position

The HSE Specialist role provides HSE support to the Transformer Service regional offices and our project sites in the US. This position is responsible for promoting a strong health, safety, and sustainability culture while maintaining an effective presence on project sites. The specialist will guide and assist team members in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and act as a technical resource and advisor to management on related matters. The role also involves maintaining Health and Safety Management Systems in conformance to ISO 45001 standards and Environmental Management Systems in conformance to ISO 14001 standards, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3-5 years HSE work experience, or 8+ years of work experience with demonstrated proficiency in safety programs.
  • Professional HSE certification such as CSP, ASP, CHSM, CHMM, CHST, or OHST highly desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and Local health, safety, environmental regulations.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certificate or willingness to obtain within 30-days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong health, safety and sustainability culture.
  • Maintain an effective presence on the project sites.
  • Guide and assist team members in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Act as a technical resource and advisor to management on health and safety matters.
  • Maintain a Health and Safety Management System in conformance to ISO 45001 standards.
  • Maintain Environmental Management System in conformance to ISO 14001 standards.
  • Identify health and safety issues and recommend control/corrective measures.
  • Lead the performance of Activity Based Risk Assessments (ABRAs).
  • Perform Management of Change as required.
  • Identify, develop, provide and track training needs.
  • Conduct and/or support the incident investigation process.
  • Manage and conduct various internal safety audits.
  • Manage the workplace inspection program and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Prepare and share reports on safety KPIs.
  • Seek and share best practices and assist other facilities/teams.
  • Coordinate, oversee and ensure environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Compile and maintain records in accordance with governmental agencies.
  • Monitor applicable health, safety, and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the management and coordination of HSE projects.
  • Manage Early and Safe Return to Work programs.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities and training.
  • Ensure HSE data is compiled and entered in digital tools.
  • Manage and maintain continuity of certification for HSE Audits.
  • Perform other duties as required.
