About The Position

7 Hours Per Day - schedule varies based on location needs - Health Resoucre Para (3 open positions). Location may change and/or hours may increase or decrease due to student and/or program needs. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of student needs, ability and desire to work with medically challenged population.
  • Ability to maintain composure and communication during stressful situations.
  • May need good physical flexibility such as ability to run, walk, lift and/or respond to other physical needs.
  • Willingness to be trained in area(s) of student health related awareness and intervention. Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine administration; asthma and administration of inhalers, using spacers and administering nebulizer treatments; diabetes and blood glucose testing, urine ketone analysis and insulin administration via injection and insulin pump; seizures and oral, intranasal and rectal rescue medications; medication administration; other types of procedures including catheterization, gastric tube feedings, and tracheostomy suctioning; and other areas of health-related support.
  • Willingness to accept assignment at multiple and potentially differing sites and locations depending on individual student needs as determined by the District.
  • Ability to work with Epipens, blood testing, insulin injections, ports, suctioning, seizures, feeding tube, diastat, medication dispensing and other areas of health-related support.
  • Willingness to assist with toileting and/or hygiene assistance, some physicality required.
  • Characteristics sought include: Child-centered, adaptability, calm demeanor, respect for dignity, patience, confidentiality and ability to alertly focus during times of potential distraction.
  • Good attendance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Personal or health-related experience with children with chronic health diseases is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist student(s) with personal needs, including but not limited to hygiene, diapering, toileting and clothing.
  • Documentation and parent contact
  • Assist as general help during "down-periods" in the classroom, lunchroom, and/or office as designated by the building Principal.
