About The Position

The Health Records Analyst position at Jackson Memorial Hospital involves assembling and analyzing medical records, ensuring compliance with hospital chart orders, and maintaining the confidentiality of patient information. This role is essential for supporting the Health Information Management department and contributes to the overall efficiency of medical record processing within the hospital.

Requirements

  • Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
  • Prior experience in Health Information is highly preferred.
  • High School diploma is required.
  • Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles and analyzes six inpatient charts per hour.
  • Processes twelve outpatient ambulatory surgery records per hour, including assembly, analysis, creating folders, attaching dictated reports, and filing records.
  • Assembles and analyzes medical records within 72 hours of discharge at Jackson South Community Hospital and within 7 days at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
  • Files loose reports within 24-72 hours of receipt by the department.
  • Abstracts inpatient records as needed.
  • Processes outpatient ambulatory surgery records within 72 hours of date of receipt.
  • Files on half-inch of loose work per hour and responds to telephone requests.
  • Retrieves records for physicians and assists with chart completion.
  • Sends physician reminder letters to complete records.
  • Prepares physician suspension list monthly and assists with medical record review function.
  • Processes and completes Birth Certificates as needed.
