About The Position

Under direction from a Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), the Health Program Specialist I (HPS I) serves as an expert program advisor, Subject Matter Expert (SME) and program consultant in the Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA) Compliance and Monitoring Unit . The HPS I leads, organizes and facilitates internal work-groups and trainings to support the planning and implementation of policy development and planning activities of the Behavioral Health Transformation (BHT) and the oversight, monitoring and performance improvement activities of the county behavioral health delivery systems to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, contract terms and the BHT Policy Manual. The HPS I analyzes and evaluates critical areas of BHSA county behavioral health delivery system's performance and recommends corrective action and monitoring activities to leadership. The HPS I acts as the programmatic internal liaison on special projects within the Behavioral Health Compliance and Monitoring Section. As a program liaison, the HPS I evaluates and monitors assigned counties and/or providers in meeting federal and state requirements, including statute, regulations, contracts and policy information notices. The HPS I is the lead staff for sensitive monitoring issues, focused reviews and for the development, implementation and execution of county corrective monitoring activities. Travel statewide, including overnight, of up to 5% of the time, by airplane, train, automobile, and other transportation methods may be required to perform job related tasks. Travel related duties are dependent upon workload and operational need.
