About The Position
The Health Professions Advisor (HPA) will provide pre-health advising for first and second year undergraduate students across all colleges within the University regarding proper curricular decisions, community engagement, and other experiential activities that will best prepare them for success in their chosen health profession. The HPA works closely with the Director of Health Professions Advising to establish academic and extracurricular programs that foster strong interpersonal and intrapersonal growth and professionalism. The HPA will continually assess student needs and improve services based upon feedback, best practices in student advising, current innovative approaches, and national trends to fully support and expand quality pre-professional student development. Special focus on programming and initiatives to support students from populations minoritized in STEM disciplines and health care careers is essential including advising on post-baccalaureate program planning and application. The HPA will work collaboratively with other advising and student service offices on campus to achieve these initiatives, notably CASA and Admissions.
