About The Position

The Health Prevention Coordinator position plays a critical role in overseeing Milwaukee County's efforts to prevent and reduce harm from substance use. This position is responsible for increasing the capacity of Milwaukee County agencies and initiatives to administer evidence-based harm reduction strategies that contribute to the reduction of substance use related overdose deaths.

Requirements

  • Current resident of Wisconsin.
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, able to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of experience with Substance Use Disorders or Prevention.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen the organization's capacity to administer harm reduction efforts that increase access to life-saving harm reduction supplies and educational opportunities about effective harm reduction strategies.
  • Provide oversight of solicitation for vending machine host agencies, including application review and fiscal and programmatic monitoring to ensure outcomes are met.
  • Ensure grant funds are adhering to standards set forth in Scopes of Work and Memorandums of Understanding.
  • Convene harm reductionists from all 19 Milwaukee County municipalities to align efforts, exchange best practices, learn evidence-based approaches, respond to community needs, and strengthen substance use related harm reduction interventions.
  • Participate on local, state, and regional committees and coalitions as needed.
  • Complete reports as required to ensure compliance with the various funding streams that contribute to dissemination of harm reduction supplies and strategies.
  • Manage the acquisition, promotion, distribution, and management of harm reduction supplies and the Harm Reduction Vending Machines.
  • Assist with high profile campaigns and partnerships with county initiatives including Better Ways to Cope, FOCUS, The Prevention Collective, and others.
  • Represent Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Services at relevant community events, conferences, coalitions, and committees.
