About The Position

The Health Policy Associate is responsible for in-depth research, including reviewing literature, analyzing data sets, and identifying trends to inform policy development and advocacy conducted by the Senior Manager of Medicare and Quality Payment. Manage data repository of all-payer payment data for member reports, advocacy use, and health services research by members of the Committee on Health Economics and Coding, including the management of the communication, educational resources and member promotional campaigns to successfully communicate the benefit to members. Track various policies for the organization and utilize knowledge of healthcare systems, public health, and policy analysis methods to make recommendations to health policy team. Represent ACOG in meetings with external stakeholders when needed. Note: This position is considered Hybrid and will need to commute to ACOG's office located in Washington, D.C.

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of public health and policy development preferred.
  • Experience with research platforms and policy tracking platforms preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, including ability to project manage.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to exercise independent judgment, prioritize and implement multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends, a travel, sometimes overnight.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health policy, political science, or other related fields required.
  • 1 year of experience working in public health, health policy research, and/or federal or state regulatory analysis required, or a Master’s degree in public health, health policy or other related fields.
  • Experience with data platforms, data analytics and research preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the all-payer payment data portfolio for analysis and advocacy activities related to health policy, which includes outreach and engagement with ACOG members and specifically, coordination with committee members and health researchers.
  • Track and analyze policy and regulation changes and collect data, research, and news to alert appropriate internal teams for outreach and advocacy opportunities.
  • Manage the development, submission, implementation, and dissemination of educational resources and coordinate the educational offerings with members of the team, including determination of the appropriate platform/media, submission of appropriate continuing education applications, budget management, and marketing of the products.
  • Research and develop reports, including objective and subjective data analysis, related to coverage and payment of obstetric and gynecologic services by federal agencies and ACOG member experience.
  • Develop and market advocacy promotion plans, including social media content and other electronic media resources, presentations, email blasts, newsletters, fact sheets, posters, tool kits, and other materials, in collaboration with leadership and appropriate ACOG teams. Share promotional materials and activities with outside organizations as applicable.
  • Manage and maintain up to date content on program webpage keeping the content current and consistent with guidelines from ACOG and cooperative partners. Write website news stories; draft social media posts; create grassroots outreach campaigns; manage weekly member communication for the health economics & practice management team.
  • Assist with questions for internal and external partners, including members, on relevant legislative and regulatory issues.
  • Author draft letters to external policymakers and serve as the expert for the assigned portfolio.
  • Represent team in internal meetings and external meetings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
