About The Position

This position offers a salary range of $75,475 - $96,720, with potential for advancement up to $117,737 based on qualifications, equity, and hiring guidelines. Initial salary offers are determined by qualifications, experience, and available budget, and typically do not exceed $96,720. GRADE 18 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH Board of Physicians 4201 Patterson Avenue Baltimore, MD 21215 Main Purpose of Job The mission of the Maryland Board of Physicians (Board) is to assure quality health care in Maryland through the efficient licensure and effective discipline of health providers under its jurisdiction by protecting and educating clients/customers and stakeholders, and enforcing the Maryland Medical Practice Act. This is a full-performance Health Policy Analyst II position reporting directly to and working under the general supervision of the Legislation and Policy Unit manager. The position is responsible for supporting the Board's policy agenda (legislative and regulatory) and its communications, education, and outreach initiatives. In addition to other assigned Board tasks, this position shall ensure that all changes to legislation and regulations pertaining to the Board and Frequently Asked Questions are drafted, responses to policy inquiries and bills are prepared, and newsletter articles are drafted.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field for one year of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Doctorate degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field for the required experience.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with and/or knowledge of healthcare administration and management practices.
  • Experience in organizing and presenting testimony at public hearings on healthcare policy or regulatory issues.
  • Experience documenting and defending healthcare policy.
  • Experience analyzing healthcare issues and developing appropriate recommendations.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of state regulation drafting and promulgation.

Responsibilities
