About The Position

HDR’s Health Planner provides planning, design, and coordination support on healthcare-related projects. Duties include: understanding current trends in healthcare delivery, including the impact of new concepts of patient and staff flow as they relate to medical planning and the impact of newly emerging technology in health care facilities; meeting directly or virtually with the client, analyzing the client’s needs and conceiving/developing architectural solutions commensurate with those needs; initiating schematic designs/plans with responsibility for the preparation of presentation drawings, models and narratives; engaging in problem solving, teamwork, critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and visualization to create accurate and detailed architectural drawings; researching, planning, and designing building projects for clients, applying knowledge of design and construction procedures, zoning and building codes, life safety codes, and healthcare codes and standards; preparing architectural specifications documents; participating in and leading team meetings, as needed, to discuss project and technical issues; assisting with the coordination of all disciplines related to building design and health planning; and mentoring or overseeing work of junior design staff, as needed.

Requirements

  • A Master's Degree in Architecture or a closely related field and 2 years of experience in architecture or a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a closely related field and 5 years of experience in architecture.
  • Must have 2 years of professional experience in the architecture/engineering industry.
  • Must have experience in Health Care Planning and Design, Health Care Architecture, or Architecture and Health, as evidenced through certification from a professional organization, documented academic concentration or certification, or demonstrated project experience.
  • Experience must also include experience in: healthcare design and planning; Adobe Suite; AutoCAD; Rhinoceros; SketchUp; Enscape; BIM360/Revit; Bluebeam; and MS Office. Experience may have been gained concurrently.
  • US domestic travel for site visits and client meetings up to once per month for 2 to 3 days per trip.
