About The Position

The Health Physicist at X-Energy, LLC is responsible for developing and implementing health physics and radiation protection programs to ensure the safety of workers and the public. This role involves managing technical and regulatory requirements, assisting in the establishment of operational radiation safety programs, and mentoring junior team members. The position requires a strong understanding of health physics principles and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in science (health physics, biology, etc.) or engineering (nuclear, chemical, mechanical, etc.) from an accredited institution.
• Typically, fifteen years of experience in health physics/radiation safety.
• A master's degree may substitute for two years of experience; a Ph.D. may substitute for three years of experience.
• Knowledge of health physics principles and practices related to nuclear materials.
• Operational health physics experience at US Licensed facilities (preferred).
• Certified Health Physicist (CHP) certification (preferred).
• NRRPT Certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of core tasks and responsibilities with independent judgment.
• Develop ALARA program requirements for reactor design.
• Determine documentation needed for the Radiation Safety Program for Operating Licensing Application (OLA).
• Establish an operational radiation safety program to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Teach and mentor junior team members.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
• Evaluate and analyze radiological health hazards.
• Collaborate with project leadership and team members to provide updates and manage priorities.
• Provide technical expertise in problem identification and resolution.
• Contribute to team decision-making through effective planning and monitoring of work activities.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation related to complex problems.
• Conduct technical studies and manage project schedules with minimal oversight.
• Maintain professional communication and behavior at all times.
