Elica Health Centers is looking for dynamic individuals to join our growing Health Information Technology team! Under general supervision the Health Information Technology (HIT) Trainer primary function is to coordinate and lead ongoing HIT and related systems training for staff and providers that are effective and timely. They will be responsible for understanding clinical requirements in an operational healthcare setting and translating those requirements into formal specifications to assist in the development of training materials, training content, and topics for on-going HIT systems training based on chart review and input from strategic internal partners, management and users. They will provide on-boarding EPIC and HIT systems training and subsequent training on system enhancement/upgrades and related work flows. The HIT Trainer must have the ability to understand healthcare software, explain technical concepts to non-technical professionals, and to translate administrative and operating requirements into clear, specific, and actionable practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required. A Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare or related fields are highly preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in healthcare preferably in training, informatics, or similar job function capacity in combination with (2) years of Clinical Setting experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience in adult education, guiding and training in a classroom setting, healthcare and/or EPIC HIT will be considered.
  • Above average technical knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace and MS Windows.
  • Proven knowledge of HIT systems, including previous experience with EPIC software required. Previous experience with training the EPIC suite of products is a plus.
  • Knowledge of front and back-office utilization of health information technology systems required.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and workflow analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of CPT, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), and ICD- 10-CM coding is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides classroom, one-on-one and roaming support for end users, including support staff and clinicians.
  • Provides hands-on initial and on-going training on the EHR system (EPIC) and related applications to both licensed and non-licensed staff.
  • Support any new or upgrade implementation module(s).
  • Implementation tasks will include testing in support environments, redesigning clinical workflows, facilitating end-user application training, and supporting go-live activities.
  • Provides input into curriculum design/scripts for HIT training, including input for the development of training manuals.
  • Collaborate in the development of necessary policies and procedures and will bring forward related issues that require resolution.
  • Document and monitor new and existing workflows and their associated procedures.
  • Provides feedback on HIT users' competencies.
  • Assist with tracking of end user attendance, course completion and testing.
  • Conducts HIT operational audit as determined by management.
  • Triages customer issues providing business/clinical HIT/IT support in specific areas such as patient encounters, patient scheduling, clinical workflows and business operations of EPIC.
  • Responsible for the maintaining and monitoring of assigned error pools/queues including but not limited to Rx Errors, Open Charts, Orders, etc.
  • Manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
