About the position

Are you passionate about protecting sensitive health information and making a difference in the lives of older adults? We’re looking for a dedicated Health Information Manager to join our team! In this key role, you'll ensure the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of all resident health records in our community. You’ll be the go-to expert on HIPAA compliance and other health information regulations, helping to keep our operations running smoothly and securely.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and complete statistical and identification data for each resident.
  • Support the admission process by preparing and auditing essential documentation.
  • Safeguard all health information and ensure full compliance with HIPAA and state regulations—reporting any concerns promptly.
  • Manage and approve the release of health records to authorized personnel.
  • Oversee the discharge and transfer process, ensuring records are sent to the appropriate party.
  • Monitor physician certifications for Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and other covered stays, ensuring all documentation is complete and timely.
  • Educate and train staff on confidentiality best practices and stay ahead of state and federal regulation updates.
  • Develop and manage the department’s budget effectively and efficiently.
  • Support the security and ongoing maintenance of electronic health records.
  • Pitch in as needed with other tasks to support the health information team and community.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Tech (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
  • At least 1-year experience in Long Term Care health information management or equivalent experience required.
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid/HIPAA regulations preferred.
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office, word processing, database management and electronic medical records.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
