About The Position

The Health Information Management (HIM) Advisor is an individual contributor responsible for owning and operating the Health Information Management function for MD Live. This role ensures the accurate release, integrity, and stewardship of patient health information, supports Clinical Documentation Improvement initiatives, and drives process improvements aligned to organizational strategy and risk mitigation. What you’ll do to make a difference: Serve as the primary owner and advocate for HIM workflows and processes, with accountability for functional outcomes. Maintain ROI/MR documentation, guidelines, and policies. Manage daily release of information (ROI) activities, including intake, logging, processing, and secure release of records in accordance with regulatory timelines and security standards. Authenticate, certify, and maintain custody of medical records for legal and regulatory purposes. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of patient health records through audits and quality assurance activities. Conduct routine and ad hoc audits to monitor documentation quality and operational compliance. Ensure adherence to HIPAA, state laws, and other regulatory requirements related to health information management and release of information. Serve as a subject matter expert on HIM compliance and documentation standards. Support and report on privacy incidents and breach investigations in partnership with Legal and Compliance teams. Support the design, build, configuration, and optimization of HIM-related systems and workflows. Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Analyze HIM data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare clear, actionable reports for management and senior leadership. Develop and implement standard practices and policies to improve operational efficiency. Communicate operational status, risks, and improvement opportunities to senior leadership. Act as a liaison among clinical teams, IT, leadership, and external legal entities on ROI matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, or an Associate’s degree with 8 years of progressive HIM experience demonstrating increasing scope and responsibility.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an ambulatory HIM environment.
  • Hands-on experience across multiple HIM domains.
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and critical-thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with commercial EMRs, SAIGlobal (C360), Tableau, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service and healthcare experience with understanding of clinical and operational concepts preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • C360 experience preferred.
  • RHIA or RHIT certification strongly preferred.
