What You'll Do As the HIM Supervisor, you will:

Requirements

  • Degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, or related field (preferred)
  • Supervisory experience in a healthcare setting (preferred)
  • Strong expertise in: HIM operations and medical records management
  • Coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
  • Release of Information (ROI)
  • Working knowledge of: HIPAA, FOIA, EMTALA, and healthcare compliance regulations
  • Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements
  • Joint Commission standards
  • Proficiency in EHR/RPMS or similar systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Successfully pass the employment background check.

Nice To Haves

  • AHIMA credential (RHIT, RHIA) and/or CPC certification

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily HIM operations to ensure efficient and compliant workflows
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop HIM staff to achieve high performance standards
  • Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of all patient health records
  • Serve as the organization's HIPAA Coordinator , ensuring full compliance
  • Develop and implement HIM policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Educate providers and staff on documentation and data integrity standards
  • Conduct audits and monitor compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, and other regulations
  • Analyze health data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Oversee Release of Information (ROI) processes
  • Maintain and optimize EHR/RPMS systems and related technologies
  • Collaborate with leadership, clinical teams, and external partners
  • Investigate and report any breaches of protected health information
