About The Position

Comprehensive Healthcare provides innovative behavioral health and integrated healthcare services to clients of all ages. The Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist is the primary resource for client data and information at Comprehensive. HIM Specialists are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, compliance, and security of all client health records. Following HIPAA protocols, the HIM Specialist assists clinical staff with accessing client records and processes external requests for client information. This position is best suited to someone who has exceptional attention to detail, can follow directions & protocols exactly, and will uphold strict confidentiality requirements. One year of general office experience is required, as HIM Specialists must be skilled with operating computers and other office equipment. The shift for this role will be onsite Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of general office experience
  • Proficient with computers and standard office programs
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
  • In compliance with state and federal law, Comprehensive Healthcare requires all candidates to complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • following all applicable state & federal regulations, as well as Comprehensive policies & procedures, for recordkeeping and storage of all client health data
  • maintaining knowledge of current laws regarding HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
  • assisting clinical staff with accessing medical records information and maintaining HIPAA compliance
  • processing internal & external requests for client information according to agency policy
  • acting as liaison between facilities to secure records and ensure integrity of the medical records database
  • scanning documentation into the medical record
  • performing quality checks on health records by verifying accuracy of documents uploaded into the imaging system and correcting index errors when necessary
  • communicating documentation requirements to clinical staff
