About The Position

Centra Behavioral Health Hospital is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network with facilities coast to coast, driven by a commitment to prioritize employee well-being. The Health Information Management Manager (HIM) will contribute by collaborating with physicians and hospital staff to ensure record completion, reviewing and responding to daily fatal error reports for HIM-related issues, answering inquiries regarding patient medical records, responding to potential HIM issues, reporting and investigating HIPAA incidents, performing timely audits on medical charts, preparing and auditing medical records post-discharge, and accurately recording and monitoring departmental deficiency rates.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in health information management

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) license
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with physicians and hospital staff to assure completion of records that meet all regulatory and facility requirements.
  • Reviews and responds to the daily fatal error reports for HIM related issues.
  • Answer inquiries from internal and external contacts regarding information recorded in patient’s medical records, within all departmental policies and guidelines.
  • Responds appropriately to any potential HIM issues.
  • Reports/records HIPAA incidents in a timely manner & investigates to determine if breach of confidentiality occurred.
  • Performs timely audits on medical charts to ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Prepares/audits the medical records post discharge to assure all required documentation is present.
  • Accurately records and monitors departmental deficiency rate and maintains rate below 30%.
