About The Position

Friendship is looking for a Full-Time Health Information Management Clerk to join our Friendship Health and Rehab team, located in Roanoke, VA. The Health Information Management Clerk plays a vital role in the organization and maintenance of patient and resident medical records. This position requires effective communication with co-workers and supervisors while adhering to established procedures. The responsibilities outlined below are essential functions of the role, but additional duties may be assigned as necessary. Shifts Available: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Proficient typing skills and familiarity with general office equipment and computer applications

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in Health Information/Medical Records is preferred but not mandatory

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with inter-department personnel and other facility departments to ensure proper maintenance of medical records
• Organize medical records per established guidelines from licensing and regulatory agencies
• Create, assemble, check, collect, file and scan information to resident charts timely and accurately
• Ensure records are complete, signed, and indexed before filing
• Scan all physician notes and other pertinent information to electronic medical record to maintain a complete chart
• Collect and inspect resident charts for completion, notifying nursing department of incomplete records for correction
• Collect payment for medical record requests with completed request form
• Maintain tracking log to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
