Health Information Assistants perform a wide range of clerical tasks and computer file maintenance to support record processing functions. They respond timely to internal and external customer requests for health information. They retrieve, maintain and file medical records and related patient information. They understand and utilize basic risk management guidelines regarding release of patient information. Health Information Assistants provide clerical functions and specific patient care duties to facilitate efficient and comprehensive services in the clinic and hospital settings. Here's what you'll do when you join us: Retrieve and distribute patient medical records and documents for patient care. File and arrive scans records. Respond to telephone customers and computer-generated requests. Analyze clinic and hospital records of scanning, indexing, routing and quality analysis. Locate and identify lost records, reports, computer duplication and Admission, Discharge, Transfer errors. Process heath information documents including utilizing outside registry systems. Ensure appropriate routing of external clinical notes to providers. Purge medical records and prepare documents for storage and destruction. Receive, verify and process release of information requests and respect the confidentiality of all information. Pick up, sort, complete, and prepare all forms and distribution of outgoing mail and faxes. Prepare immunization records for patients. Send tests out for interpretation, scan and route documents and prepare the appropriate charge ticket for coding. Fax information to internal and external facilities and utilize the ROI when necessary. Work in collaboration with medical and nursing staff for chart completion, order completion and routing of reports.
