About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Background in secretarial support and/or business, keyboarding, bookkeeping, office machines operation, and office procedures.
  • Must be familiar with medical terminology and have excellent computer skills.
  • Previous experience in a medical records department preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, following rules of HIPAA.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
  • Skill in managing time and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assure the line of custody, accuracy, and completeness of health records.
  • Maintain current and accurate records through the use of computers and/or other documentation in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards and regulations.
  • Ensure paper records are properly assembled, coded, signed, indexed, etc before scanning and filing.
  • Answer phone calls to address record submission needs in order to support patient care.
  • File documents and patient records in a timely manner and in appropriate locations to ensure an efficient system of document retrieval and storage.
  • Ensure that incomplete records and charts are returned to the appropriate personnel for completion.
  • Ensure established policies and procedures for medical records maintenance and security are followed by all personnel.
  • Interact with management, physicians, and staff by obtaining and communicating essential data and assisting other team members to coordinate efficient transactions of patient-related documents.
