The Health Informatics Analyst at the University of Memphis plays a crucial role in managing and analyzing public health data, particularly in relation to the PH-IDEAS grant. This position involves translating business requirements into technical specifications, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring the integrity and security of health-related data. The analyst will also be responsible for quality assurance testing and the development of data models to support public health initiatives.

  • Plans business analysis approaches, stakeholder engagement, governance, and information management for projects related to PH-IDEAS grant.
  • Reviews, translates and transforms business requirements into the design of semantic data models using tools such as Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, Azure Analysis Services, and SAP Universe Designer.
  • Serves as a technical lead in collaboration with business operations, Shelby Co. Health department, and IT applications and technical teams to translate operations workflow and patient experience objectives into technical requirements.
  • Provides support, troubleshooting, and problem solving at an advanced level on projects related to PH-IDEAS grant; reviews upgrade documentation related to analytics tools and content, determining the best implementation approach.
  • Evaluates, anticipates, and communicates risks to existing analytics products and processes, and recommends ways to mitigate those risks.
  • Performs highly complex quality assurance testing, designs and runs SQL queries for enhanced and complex data access.
  • Plans, develops, and writes documentation of design and deployment processes, workflows, and results.
  • Utilizes EHR data modeling systems to support tasks like public health data documentation, performance metrics, regulatory reporting, and information security.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, informatics, public health, computer science, information systems or information technology.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in health informatics or a related field.
  • Familiarity with coding languages such as Java, C, Python, and SQL.
  • Skilled in database design, data structure, modeling, and development of database management systems.
  • Fluent in a variety of applicable programming languages, software, and systems.
  • Familiar with processes such as data cleansing, business process analysis, and technical leadership practices.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Fluency in statistics and record coding.
  • Skilled in project management and organization.
  • Graduate Degree in business, informatics, public health, computer science, information systems or information technology or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in dealing with public health or health-related data and generating interactive visualizations using custom programming or other available dashboard tools.
