About The Position

The Health Information Manager is responsible for facilitating the maintenance of the program participants' medical record and role models the customer service expectation, organizes and coordinates unit activities to facilitate smooth, efficient unit operations. Requirements

  • Graduate of a HUC education program if applicable or LPN or completion of a medical transcription course preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Health Unit Coordinator in health care preferred.
  • Effective communicator with staff, families and outside agencies.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to prioritize duties.
  • Customer service oriented with knowledge of successful customer service technique.
  • Ability to understand residents' charts, doctor's orders, residents' plan of care, medication orders.
  • Ability to organize and maintain nursing unit order.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phone calls, relay messages and refer to appropriate staff members for response.
  • Assist with questions and concerns of residents, families and visitors by providing direction or referring to appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate needs to other departments, i.e., environmental services, housekeeping or dining service requests and others as necessary.
  • Responsible for sending out station mail
  • Route paperwork in process and completed to appropriate staff.
  • Stock forms and supplies for nursing stations.
  • Be professional in appearance and manner.
  • Be helpful to others and work as a member of a team to provide quality care to the total resident group.
  • Assist with admission by preparing charts, obtaining bed tags, closet labels, name band and nameplates.
  • Transcribe admission and return transfer orders
  • Perform timely audits of a resident's record on admission and hospital return following up on deficient items.
