About The Position

The Health Educator is responsible for delivering/presenting all of The Source’s educational programs, including pregnancy education, childbirth classes, parenting education, youth Sexual Risk Avoidance Education, and any additional enrichment programming made available in both English and Spanish. This role includes teaching weekly group classes, including but not limited to adult and teen classroom presentations, teen leadership programs, and parent workshops.

Requirements

  • Exhibit strong commitment and dedication to the sanctity of human life and sexual purity.
  • Agree with and be willing to uphold the Statement of Principle, Statement of Faith and policies of The Source.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a helping field, nursing, education, public health, or similar field preferred.
  • Have experience with Microsoft Office computer applications.
  • Organized and self-motivated; able to work productively with little supervision.
  • The ability to resolve problems quickly and effectively and determine appropriate courses of action, which are then reported to the Education Program Manager in the assigned location.
  • Must be flexible and have well developed interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in adult and/or adolescent education preferred.
  • Bilingual, strongly preferred or may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver/present all of The Source’s educational programs, including pregnancy education, childbirth classes, parenting education, youth Sexual Risk Avoidance Education, and any additional enrichment programming made available in both English and Spanish.
  • Teach weekly group classes, including but not limited to adult and teen classroom presentations, teen leadership programs, and parent workshops.
  • Complete required training for TTF and SRAE Grant contracts including the Ascend SRAE certification.
  • Input required data entry in the client database in a timely manner for all grant and organizational reporting.
  • Report weekly statistics of class attendance to Education Program Manager.
  • Set up media required for facilitation of each class.
  • If applicable, for in-person classes, ensure the classroom is clean and ready to receive clients before each class; tidy up the classroom after class.
  • Know and be comfortable teaching all of The Source’s educational programs.
  • Be willing to substitute for any of The Source’s educational programs.
  • Be willing to participate in annual classroom observations.
  • Teach weekly group and individual primarily adult educational classes covering TTF approved curriculum.
  • Work with Education Program Manager and/or Education Program Administrator to ensure accurate enrollment and processing of clients taking pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting classes, including initial invitation, confirmation of enrollment and welcome call.
  • Provide TTF clients with material assistance.
  • Provide AEP/SRAE curriculum to youth between the ages of 10-19 years old.
  • Understand and know The Source’s AEP/SRAE curriculum.
  • Provide medically accurate and age-appropriate education to students when presenting the AEP/SRAE curriculum and answering student questions.
  • Offer and provide time during classes for students to complete UT Health’s pre and post AEP/SRAE curriculum surveys.
  • Facilitate parent and teacher workshops, as needed.
  • Support the Education Program Manager and Grants Compliance Manager with gathering student attendance, demographic information, and information for grant required reports.
  • Review current curriculum and present updates, changes, and new curriculum suggestions to the Education Program Manager.
  • Submit all new education materials for approval to the Education Program Manager.
  • Identify areas of concern in classroom procedures and program initiatives; report proposed changes to Education Program Manager.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Assist in special events, community fairs, and church presentations, as needed.
  • Expected to attend and volunteer at The Source's local major fund-raising event every year. Strongly preferred to attend and volunteer at The Source's second major fund-raising event as well.
  • Establish positive working relationships with staff members and volunteers.
  • Complete all trainings
  • Other duties, as assigned.
