About The Position

The Health Educator II is responsible for building and sustaining community partnerships, coordinating culturally specific community outreach, and facilitating caregiver-child education classes to diverse learners in Carlton and St. Louis counties in northern Minnesota. This role includes administrative tasks, contributing to evaluation, curriculum and program development, and promoting reproductive health services to meet the goals of the Education Department and support the mission of Planned Parenthood North Central States. Health Educators advocate for the mission of advancing and protecting sexual and reproductive healthcare for all.

Requirements

  • Experience working in Indigenous communities and other culturally and racially diverse populations.
  • At least one year of experience in youth development, health education, public health, or a related area.
  • Familiarity with the network of organizations and agencies serving Indigenous communities throughout northern Minnesota.
  • Access to independent transportation, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver culturally-specific caregiver-child sexuality education with Indigenous caregivers in various settings.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate and provide staffing for displays, exhibits, and promotional efforts at health fairs and community celebrations.
  • Assist with the implementation of focus groups to gather key information on delivering sexuality education in Indigenous communities.
  • Plan and prioritize annual work plans and budgets for community education.
  • Evaluate, promote and disseminate accurate and current information and curricula relating to sexuality.
  • Compile, record, and evaluate outreach and educational statistics and prepare reports.
  • Participate in professional meetings and work groups to build coalitions and partnerships.
  • Dedicate time to professional skill development around Diversity Equity and Inclusion work.
