Serves as the Policy, Systems, and Environmental Change Specialist for the Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (CCC) and the Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP) which is a highly responsible position working with both program directors to plan and guide cancer control efforts. The position reports directly to the Cancer Program Administrator. Expertise in this position is related to the following areas:Develops or expands CCC Program’s community projects, regional cancer control and planning efforts, and other activities including contracts and assisting with reporting requirements. Measures impact from communication and planning efforts with cancer partners statewide. Analyzes public health and cancer specific information using existing surveillance tools. Plans and implements strategic efforts in accordance with federal grant expectations, state and departmental policies. Identifies problems and possible solutions related to programmatic assignments and discusses corrective action strategies with program leaders. Participates in the annual grant application development, regular reporting of program activities and trainings and meetings held with/by the grant awarding entity, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.Serves as a contract manager and oversee contracts for cancer control interventions among CCCP and CRCCP health system partners. Maintains contract management certification. Collaborates on creation of program procurement materials. Ensures all ongoing contracts and agreement forms are correct and up-to-date; technical assistance via conference calls and/or correspondence is provided; site visits are performed; invoices are complete, correct and submitted, per standard operating procedure; vendors and sub-recipients are paid in a timely manner; and the budget for the services is correct. Assists with writing and reviewing of required reports for the program, the Department and federal requirements.Provides consultation, technical assistance and distributes information regarding systems change strategies to health education professionals, county health departments and other cancer prevention and control partners for development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities in alignment with the Florida Cancer Plan. Coordinates and facilitates cancer prevention related webinars in collaborations with various partners. Reviews and drafts communication materials requested by the Department such as educational and informational materials, press releases, pamphlets, brochures, articles, abstracts, resources, promotional items, and website updates.Works across Cancer Programs to plan, monitor, and evaluate initiatives and annual objectives. Integrates cancer burden data and priorities set by statewide cancer coalition in agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant requirements. Coordinates CCC programming in collaboration with other Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida efforts, and an especially close working relationship with other cancer granted staff when possible. Coordinates and facilitates external and internal partnership meetings to achieve grant requirements for coordination of program efforts. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with statewide cancer partners, bureau wide programs, county health department staff and individuals who have an impact on the CCC Program. Provides leadership to statewide efforts, i.e., coalitions, councils, committees and convenes meetings as they pertain to assigned chronic disease prevention efforts. Represents the department at all assigned meetings to promote chronic disease prevention and health promotion efforts. Attends and represents the program at workshops and conferences as required. Presents to public bodies as needed. Maintains current knowledge and skills in areas of responsibility through attendance at professional meetings, teleconferences, and by reading current literature pertinent to cancer. Seeks appropriate educational opportunities. Works with the bureau evaluators to monitor and evaluate CCC Program efforts based on the most current scientific evidence of cancer control practices.Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
