This health disparities fellowship is a 12-month program designed to prepare pharmacy professionals who are interested in becoming a researcher and advocate for reducing health disparities via pharmacist provided community-based interventions. This is a limited term role. The Health Disparities Fellow will work with administrators and faculty to gain valuable experience in research on health disparities and community-based pharmacist interventions that are directed towards improving patient outcomes. The fellow will gain significant experience in learning about pharmacist-provided services and its impact on patient outcomes The fellow will also engage with our current preceptors in community-based settings to identify the nature of services provided, barriers and facilitators to the provision of those services and help design interventions in local communities The fellow will work with pharmacy students and health professions student organizations to create community-based interventions and evaluate the impact of those interventions. In the process, the fellow will obtain a teaching certificate and a leadership certificate The fellow will be exposed to the following areas: Research and Scholarship in Health Outcomes with a focus on disparities Research and Scholarship in Pharmacist Provided Services and Patient Outcomes Research Attendance at national and local conferences that focus on health disparities and pharmacist interventions such as American Pharmacist Association (APhA) Annual Meeting
