About The Position

Our Health Data Analyst play a meaningful role at Blue Cross of Idaho, performing research and analysis of complex data regarding utilization, cost containment, and financial information. Provide company reporting and/or analysis results to internal / external clients, so they can effectively monitor and control related health plan costs or provider services costs. Health Data Analyst evaluates, writes, and presents healthcare utilization, operational KPI's and make recommendations based on relevant findings. This role will report to the Manager Healthcare Economics in our Healthcare Economics department and will interact with various Blue Cross of Idaho departments.

Requirements

  • 2 years' data analysis experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Information Systems, Business, or related field; or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college).

Responsibilities

  • Ability to problem solve and critically think (interpret and deliver on the client's true needs).
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of all reports delivered.
  • Provide issue support for internal or external facing queries and reports.
  • Perform different types of analysis and research i.e. Diagnosis, utilization, financial, compliance, product performance, group cost containment, corporate cost containment, risk, etc.
  • Evaluates existing processes and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaborate with business functional subject matter experts to validate findings and provide insights and recommendations specific to the scope of the analysis.
  • Identify variation and outliers in healthcare costs and/or services and participates in identifying and implementing solutions in collaboration with internal team members.
  • Participates in and provides support for enterprise-wide data initiatives and data management projects.
  • Collaborates and participates in cross-departmental and cross-functional data teams.
  • Make proficient use of spreadsheets (Excel), programming languages (SQL, Python, etc.), and other relevant software to capture and manipulate data.
  • Produce ad-hoc and reoccurring reports.
  • Build and maintain documents around policies, procedures, business requirements.
  • Make recommendations for driving innovation.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners including (IT, Account Management, Client Analytics, etc.).
  • Share insights with internal and external stakeholders.
