Culmen International is hiring a Health Communications Specialist / Implementation Science Specialist to aid the Defense Health Agency (DHA) in applying scientific research to clinical practice through effective dissemination and implementation science strategies. The role involves collaborating with a diverse team to promote the utilization and adoption of implementation science across various consultations and enterprise-wide initiatives.

  • Manage communications campaigns across different clinical topics, including developing targeted audience profiles, conducting environmental assessments, creating communication materials, and running social media campaigns.
  • Support complex consultation projects by reviewing policies, recommending clinical workflows, and creating decision support tools.
  • Conduct research, analyze implementation metrics, and assist with the activities of the Community of Practice to foster collaboration and improve health outcomes within DHA and its network.
  • Design, format, write, and edit client and leadership briefs, presentations, abstracts, and other client-facing materials within the MHS.
  • Interpret and translate complex clinical content into user-friendly resources written in plain language and relatable to a broad audience.
  • Support development and execution of dissemination plans, including social media campaigns, developing key messages, and creating infographics.
  • Support development and execution of implementation plans, including developing training modules and creating clinician support tools.
  • Work closely with project staff, research and clinical subject matter experts, clinical providers, occupational health and safety professionals, and education and training staff to develop and execute implementation science plans.
  • Monitor and meet milestones and deadlines, and provide timely and professional high-quality consultative support.
  • Knowledge of military culture and structure to best support MHS initiatives.
  • Strong technical writing skills to clearly, logically, and succinctly communicate project-related information within the MHS, DoD, and other federal agencies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Solid working knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office business suite, Adobe Professional, SharePoint).
  • Excellent client-facing consultation skills, including briefing and/or advisement to civilian and uniformed government personnel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships, demonstrate initiative, and focus on results.
  • Experience working in the Military Health System (preferably Defense Health Agency, VA, AHRQ, CDC, SAMSHA or NIH).
  • Minimum of 5 years of communications and implementation experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong knowledge and/or experience with dissemination and implementation best practices.
  • Understanding of effective communication across various audiences.
  • Knowledge and/or experience interpreting and communicating data-informed findings/results.
  • Background in public health or public policy.
  • Graphic design experience (using Piktochart or Canva) and ability to develop infographics for social media campaigns.
